Firefox browser company is cutting 250 jobs

Software company Mozilla is carrying out a reorganization in which the maker of the web browser Firefox, among other things, also closes its offices in the Taiwanese capital Taipei. About 250 jobs are lost and 60 people within the company are transferred to another department.

Mozilla had already announced in January that it would restructure its organization. However, due to the corona crisis, that plan turned out not to be enough and 250 jobs now have to be lost. This concerns about a quarter of all jobs.

Mozilla also says that its current model of giving away software for free presents the company with economic challenges. That’s why Mozilla is exploring ways it can make money from its software without harming its mission of a better Internet for everyone.
