It would have made little difference if Loïs Openda had not played for Vitesse, but Feyenoord. The top club from Rotterdam was in the market last winter for the Belgian mercenary of Club Brugge.

Feyenoord wanted to rent Openda for six months in the middle of the season, but got zero on the complaint. “I didn’t like a rental period back then,” he says Algemeen Dagblad. “I chose to stay at Club Brugge and take my chances.”

Feyenoord then played for Róbert Bozeník, while Openda became champion with Club Brugge. This summer he made the step to the Eredivisie. Vitesse will have the rush hour until the summer of 2021. “I can get even better in all areas. But in the end making goals is the most important task of a striker. That is my goal, to score a lot”, he says.

Didier Drogba is his great example. Openda: “I have always admired him. At Chelsea he was the best striker in the world. It is my dream to meet him one day. I also think Neymar and Zlatan are great. Zlatan radiates at 38: I’m the boss, I’m the best. Splendid. That’s how I want to be. “
