‘Fantastic when Eljero Elia comes to close here, put a nice ball behind it’

Tom Beugelsdijk counts his blessings, now that ADO Den Haag has been saved as number 17 of the Eredivisie relegation. It was a wake-up call for the club, he says.

“We can really squeeze our hands,” Beugelsdijk responds Algemeen Dagblad. “That really lives in the group, just like the sense of revenge. We should never be there again. I really intended that, you don’t want this anymore.”

ADO strengthened itself with six players this summer. If it is Beugelsdijk, it does not stop there. “I think there will be some more. Wouldn’t it be great if Eljero closed Elia here? I can put the ball behind him …”

“Last year was dramatic, but we know we can do much better. If we can be more stable, I am not afraid to experience something like that again”, says Beugelsdijk, who has ‘fresh courage’. “It is clear to us that we have to hit every game, last season was really a wake-up call.”
