A Boy in the Striped Pajamas writer John Boyne’s latest book, A Traveler at the Gates of Wisdom, appears to feature a recipe from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
In the story, the process involved in making a dress explained, and specifically discusses the ingredients needed to make different colors. Among the listed ingredients include Octorok eyeballs and ‘hightail lizard’. These are ingredients that can be found in the Switch and Wii U game The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and that can be used to cook various recipes.
It turns out not to be an ode to one of Boyne’s favorite video games. Through Twitter the writer indicates that it is simply an error. “Lol, that’s hilarious. I dare (for the mistake) to come out. Something tells me that I will be telling this anecdote on stage for years to come. ”
While Boyne doesn’t explain how the flaw crept into the book, it’s likely that he searched Google for paint recipes that can color clothes. He probably accidentally ended up on a recipe from Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
