Emirates returns with Airbus A380 at Schiphol

During the low point of the corona crisis, the airline did not carry out passenger flights at all to Schiphol. In June the regular service was resumed with a Boeing 777-300ER, and now the demand is picking up to an A380.

However, the capacity is far from the old level. Before the corona crisis, Emirates flew with passengers to the Dutch airport up to three times a day, including twice with the A380 and once with the Triple Seven. Now it remains for one flight a day for the time being.

The aircraft that landed at Schiphol on Saturday afternoon has the registration A6-EVJ and is only one year old. There is room for 516 passengers on board. Of these, 14 can participate in the luxury First Class, 76 in Business Class and the rest in Economy. Due to corona, not all facilities are available on board.

There are now a total of two companies that deploy the A380 to Schiphol: in addition to Emirates, also China Southern Airlines. The Chinese have been using the type on the route to Guangzhou for several months. This has recently happened twice a week.

Test obligation
As of today, Emirates obliges its passengers to be tested for the corona virus before flight. Previously, this was allowed on arrival at the airport. The test obligation applies to passengers with final destination Dubai and those who only transfer there.

Anyone who catches the corona virus during the trip will be reimbursed by Emirates. In the worst case, society even pays the funeral. She hopes to convince doubting travelers to board the plane.
