Xavi Simons made his unofficial debut for Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday evening. The seventeen-year-old Dutch midfielder came in during a 1-0 won match against FC Sochaux.
Simons, the son of former professional footballer Regillio Simons, came on for Julian Draxler in the 69th minute. He was not the youngest on the field, because two fifteen-year-olds also joined PSG.
Last summer, Simons decided to exchange the youth academy of FC Barcelona, where he was considered one of the greatest talents, after nine years for that of PSG. He signed a contract until the summer of 2022.
Simons went through several youth teams of Orange. Last year, the born Amsterdammer played six games on behalf of the Netherlands under 17, in which he scored three times and gave an assist.
PSG, which changed ten times against Sochaux and also gave Dutchman Mitchel Bakker playing time, won the exhibition game by an early goal from Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. Stars like Neymar and the injured Kylian Mbappé were missing.
