It’s official: Jonathan David is moving from KAA Gent to Lille. The French club says this on its website. The transfer of the 20-year-old Canadian, who has been in the air for a while, yields the Buffalos a record amount.

The last news reports that the transfer fee is slightly higher than expected. ‘If there were initially 27.5 million plus bonuses, it now turns out that AA Gent will earn a transfer fee of no less than 32 million euros anyway. That amount is confirmed to us by AA Gent chairman Ivan De Witte, ‘the Belgian newspaper reports.

There are also a number of bonuses included in the transfer that can significantly increase the total amount. Youri Tielemans’ record from RSC Anderlecht to AS Monaco is therefore shattered. Tielemans went to the French Club for 25 million euros.

David was the absolute trendsetter at Ghent last season. The attacking midfielder cum forward scored 18 goals in 27 appearances in the Jupiler Pro League.
