A woman aged around 50 was sentenced to one month in prison by the court of first instance in Safi after sharing a video declaring that the corona virus did not exist.

The suspect was also convicted of insulting the health authorities in the video. Among other things, she stated that no coronavirus infection had been recorded in Safi since the onset of the pandemic.

Al Massae reports that the police had launched an investigation into the video published on social media. The woman was identified, located and arrested.

After her arrest, the woman had been remanded in custody for inciting disobedience to orders and decisions from government agencies, insulting an official, and death threats.

However, the court ruled that the woman was unaware of the seriousness of her statements, which led to a relatively low sentence.
