The tennis circuit is slowly creeping out of the valley, but – in view of the new corona wave – many questions remain.
The US Open does not want to bow to the corona virus and the organization still wants to start on August 31 with the grand slam tournament, albeit in a slimmed down form and with many corona measures.
Rafael Nadal was a skeptic from the very beginning and the guidelines of the organization have not convinced him. He confirmed on his social media that he fits for the tournament he won in 2010, 2013, 2017 and 2019.
“I have thought carefully and the situation is very complex worldwide as the number of infections increases. It seems as if we still have no control over the virus,” Nadal writes.
“After a break of more than 4 months, I understand the efforts being made to play again.”
“I didn’t want to make this decision, but I’ve decided to follow my heart. I don’t want to travel for the time being.”
