David van der Poel has booked his second stage victory today in the Tour of Flemish Brabant. The 28-year-old Dutchman turned out to be the best rider in Kumtich after a stage of 112.5 kilometers. It is already the fourth victory in a row for his Alpecin-Fenix team.
A teammate of Van der Poel, Jonas Rickaert, colored the final of the fourth stage. The 26-year-old rider was still ahead in the last kilometers, but turned out not to be strong enough to stay out of the pack. Rickaert was caught with a few kilometers to go. The last word was to the fast men in the peloton.
Van der Poel eventually won before fellow cyclo-cross rider Toon Aerts, Jules Hesters finished third. It is the fourth consecutive victory for his employer Alpecin-Fenix since the start of the Tour of Flemish Brabant. Van der Poel won two stages, but Roy Jans and Rickaert were also successful in the stage race.
Tomorrow the riders will come into action again for the final stage with finish in Rillaar.
