It is about secret meetings between Infantino and former chief prosecutor Michael Lauber, the OM announced on Thursday.
“It is clear to me that FIFA’s Ethics Commission should open a case against Mr Infantino and therefore suspend him,” Blatter said in a statement to news agency Reuters.
The agreements between Infantino and Lauber are not prohibited, but if they do take place, however, that must be done by the judiciary. The concealed meeting between Infantino and Lauber is said to have taken place in a hotel in Bern. According to the Southgerman newspaper it is said that during the secret agreement there was talk of a television contract with an Argentinian party that Infantino would have signed in his previous job as secretary general of UEFA.
“I firmly deny that I lied. But if you don’t believe me as a federal prosecutor, it would hurt the Public Prosecution Service. That’s why I’m offering my resignation, ”said Lauber last week when he left.
Infantino already indicated that there is nothing illegal about his meetings with Lauber.
