‘Completely new feeling’ at Heracles: ‘Fantastic, that took ten minutes’

It took some getting used to for Frank Wormuth: Heracles Almelo played the first exhibition game of the season against FC Groningen on Saturday in the new ‘corona conditions’. The German trainer speaks of ‘a completely new feeling’.

“After being allowed to stand on the field again for five months, it gave me a completely new feeling,” says Wormuth to TC / Tubantia. “Like: fantastic, we’re back. A new, old feeling. That took ten minutes, then it was back to normal. We can just talk about football again. ”

Heracles drew the short end in Groningen (0-1). Normally, the Wormuth team opens the preparation with an exhibition game against an Almelose selection. “It is fun for amateurs to play against pros, but for us this is better, we are immediately sharp and can compete with equivalent teams,” said captain Robin Pröpper.

“I think we are in good physical shape. Groningen was more threatening than we are, but it is the first game, it is not about the result. Although it feels better to win.”
