Chance of direct CL ticket Ajax increases after Barça win

FC Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich have qualified for the quarter finals of the Champions League. The Catalans won 3-1 against Napoli, while Bayern Munich was too strong for Chelsea 4-1. Due to their victories, both teams will compete against each other next week in the context of the quarter-finals of the billion dollar.

For Ajax, FC Barcelona’s victory comes from where it benefited from an elimination of Napoli. If the winner of the Champions League does not qualify for the next edition of the tournament via their own league, Ajax must qualify via the preliminary rounds. That scenario would unfold if Napoli or Olympique Lyon won the billion dollar ball. Now that the club from Naples has been eliminated, Ajax’s chances of direct placement for the Champions League have increased.
