‘Champions League is price I want, I speak for the entire City selection’

Kyle Walker is convinced: Manchester City needs a success in the Champions League. The defender won almost everything there was to win in his time at the club from Manchester, but a Champions League title is still missing.

Walker believes City needs a billion dollar success to boost the club’s reputation. “I think if you had asked me two years ago when I signed here, I would have said the Premier League would be the big one for me. I would never have won it before I got here,” Walker admits. in conversation with OneFootball. “Now there are two Premier League titles to my name and a number of other awards. The Champions League is the prize I still want, and then I think I speak for the entire selection.”

City will compete against Memphis Depay’s Olympique Lyon on Saturday evening. At stake: a spot in the semi-finals of the Champions League. Lyon eliminated Juventus in the eighth finals, but has played few games since the corona crisis, Walker also knows. “We hope to use that to our advantage, but Lyon has good players. I think the elimination of Juventus says enough. (…) Then you have to be a very good team.”

Walker is confident about the game and is ambitious. “We feel that our team, with our way of playing and our philosophy, is going to do well in the tournament and get us to where we want to be: the final.”
