Champion Juventus put on display at home, Inter wins last battle in Bergamo

Juventus’ Serie A season has gone up overnight. The national champion was trumped in his own house by number five AS Roma and experienced a dramatic general for the Champions League game with Olympique Lyon.

Juventus-AS Roma 1-3
The sovereign Serie A ruler kicked off with a B team: Matthijs de Ligt got a rest again and players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala were also not present. Third goalkeeper Carlo Pinsoglio was allowed to substitute fifteen minutes before the end for Wojciech Szczesny, who had already passed three times at that time. Gonzalo Higuaín helped Juventus get an early lead, but hit hard back through Nikola Kalinic and two hits from Diego Perotti. The season is not yet over for both clubs: Juventus will face Olympique Lyon on Friday, August 7, one day after AS Roma plays against Sevilla in the Europa League.

Atalanta Bergamo-Internazionale 0-2
Atalanta Bergamo and Internazionale also play in the Champions League and Europa League, against Paris Saint-Germain and Getafe respectively. On Saturday evening, the two competed for second place behind Juventus. Inter only needed one point and eventually picked up three in Bergamo. Danilo D’Ambrosio headed in the 0-1 within one minute, Ashley Young curled the 0-2 in the far corner not long after. The guests from Milan crossed that comfortable margin in the next seventy minutes: Atalanta suffered its first league defeat since mid-January.

Other competitions:
AC Milan-Cagliari 3-0
Napoli-SS Lazio 3-1
