Cambuur lashes out at Emmen, Twente wins first practice pot

7 augustus 2020 – SC Cambuur, following PEC Zwolle, has also settled with FC Emmen. Henk de Jong’s team made an excellent impression on Friday evening, especially in the first half, but eventually also ended in the second company. Robert Mühren and Giovanni Korte took the lead in the 2-5 victory. FC Twente did better in the first exhibition match and won against Excelsior ’31 (3-1).

With that Cambuur wins again from an Eredivisie team, after it previously defeated PEC Zwolle. Just like for PEC Zwolle, however, this was the first match in the preparation of FC Emmen, which therefore had it extra tough under the extreme conditions. As a result, Cambuur completely dominated in the first half and scored twice: Robert Mühren first rounded off an attack from the right very nicely and then took advantage of a mistake by FC Emmen keeper Stefan van der Lei. Just before half time, midfielder Robin Maulun also slipped an unmissable opportunity.

In the second company, SC Cambuur played with the B-garnish, while at FC Emmen, Glenn Bijl, Hilal Ben-Moussa and Mario Kolar came into the team. The home team got more grip and a beautiful free kick by Nikolai Laursen made it exciting again (1-2). Still, it eventually turned out to be a generous victory for Cambuur: with a bit of luck, Korte – top scorer in the preparation of the Leeuwarders – shot in the 1-3 from the turn and Michael Breij ultimately benefited from fumbling in the back at Emmen (1-4) .

In the end, Korte (wonderful poeier from a distance) and Laursen (beautiful marker) again came on the score form with two nice goals, where Delano Ladan and Ragnar Oratmangoen just forgot to score in the final phase. As a result, SC Cambuur is still keeping the form of last season, while FC Emmen has been kicked off.

FC Twente – Excelsior ’31 3-1
Ron Jans was also on the field for the first time in an official exhibition game with FC Twente on Friday-evening. The Tukkers did not have it easy, but took the lead via Julio Pleguezuelo (header from a corner). Despite the fact that Hakim Ezafzafi equalized ten minutes after the break on behalf of the visitors, there was nevertheless a victory for the Tukkers. With a bit of luck, Giorgi Aburjani made it 2-1 after an hour, while newcomer Lazaros Lamprou determined the final score from a free kick.
