BS was drawn against Dynamo Batumi in the qualifiers

The draw is relatively convenient for Hapoel Beer Sheva in the first qualifying round of the Europa League: it will host Dynamo Batumi in Georgia, if it agrees to come to Israel, on August 27, according to a draw held today (Monday). As you may recall, only four victories separate BS from returning to the home stage of the Europa League for the first time since 2017/18.

In contrast to previous seasons in which Israel sent a representative to the second qualifying round of the Europa League, this season all three representatives start in the first round. Hapoel Beer Sheva, which won the trophy, was ranked in Group 9 along with Nafchi Baku and decorated the Azaris.

Batumi – a veteran club with a familiar face
Dynamo Batumi was founded in 1923, but its degree cabinet is relatively empty and consists of one trophy and one cup count, both in 1998. Last season Batumi finished second in the league, five points below Dynamo Tbilisi. The Georgian league is now in full swing, but it seems that not much has changed since Batumi is ranked second, this time one point below the champion at the end of nine rounds.

In total, Batumi played eight games in the European factories, the last of which was in 2017/18 in the European League qualifiers. Polish Yegilona won 0: 1 at home and 0: 4 away and moved on to the next stage without any problems. Batumi consists of a Georgian base combined with six foreigners, three of them from Brazil. The most familiar faces are the striker Vladimir Debalishvili, ex-Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel Ashkelon.

The team’s top scorer this season is local midfielder Jambol Jigauri, who has scored five goals in nine games. Brazilian striker Palmerion added four conquests. Debalishvili has played five league games (four in the squad) and is still waiting for his first goal of the season.
