A British former secretary of state and current Conservative party parliamentarian is believed The Sunday Times arrested on suspicion of rape. The police confirm to the newspaper that a man is in custody, but for the time being leaves nothing to say about his identity.
According to the The Sunday Times a former employee of the man has accused him of forcing sex during a relationship. The woman would then have gone to the hospital. Police said they received the report on Friday, which would deal with four different incidents at three locations in the period from July 2019 to January 2020, according to The Times. The London police have opened an investigation, according to that newspaper. The government has not yet responded.
The charges against the British parliamentarian come three days after another Conservative politician, Charlie Elphicke, was convicted of sexual assault. He has been found guilty of three cases of sexually transgressive behavior between 2007 and 2016.
