British Airways pilots agree to cut salaries and layoffs NOW

British Airways pilots have agreed to a 20 percent temporary salary cut. In addition, 270 jobs will disappear from the British airline, pilot union BALPA announced on Friday.

A large majority of the pilots entitled to vote approved the package of emergency measures.

In addition to the temporary 20 percent cut in wages, an additional 8 percent will be cut in the next two years.

Like many airlines, British Airways is also hit hard by the corona crisis. For example, KLM also announced on Friday that it would cut a total of 4,500 to 5,000 jobs.

The British company previously announced it would fire approximately 12,000, including some 1,250 pilots.

Due to salary cuts, British Airways has to cut back on staff. At least 270 employees are expected to lose their jobs.
