British Airways pilots agree to a substantial salary cut

The pilots will temporarily earn 20 percent less. Over a two-year period, this will be reduced to a minus of 8 percent and in the long run to 0 percent. For example, British Airways can keep costs down during the recovery from the corona crisis.

In exchange, ‘only’ 270 pilots lose their jobs. Previously, the management had threatened to fire 1,255 pilots and then take a part back against new, much worse working conditions. That is now off the track.

A total of 4,300 pilots work for the airline. With an 87 percent turnout, 85 percent voted in favor, BALPA reports.
