For the time being, it does not seem that Jadon Sancho will move to Manchester United any time soon. Borussia Dortmund director Michael Zorc states that the attacker will simply stay in Germany.
“We plan to keep Jadon Sancho from the selection next season and that decision is final. I think this will answer all your questions,” Zorc said on Monday at a press moment in Switzerland, where Dortmund will be in preparation for the new. season.
Twenty-year-old Sancho has been associated with a transfer to Manchester United for some time. The talented Englishman would already personally agree with ‘The Red Devils’, but there is still no agreement with Dortmund about the transfer fee.
According to the BBC Dortmund had set a deadline for United that expired today, which would explain Zorc’s statements. The Germans reportedly want 100 million pounds – around 111 million euros – for eleven-time international Sancho.
‘Have Sancho contract extended last summer’
Zorc announced on Monday that the contract of the coveted star player will run for a year longer than was known. “Last summer, we increased Jadon’s salary because of his strong performance. This means we extended his contract until mid-2023.”
Sancho, who came over from Manchester City for less than 8 million euros in the summer of 2017, impressed this season with 17 goals and as many assists in 32 league games. He has played a total of 99 official matches for Dortmund, scoring 34 times and providing 43 assists.
Dortmund closed the Bundesliga season in second place at the end of June and was eliminated in the Champions League in the eighth finals by Paris Saint-Germain. The team of coach Lucien Favre starts the competition on September 19 with a home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
