The military domain of Koksijde will be the new setting for the BK time trial for elite cyclists with and without contracts and women’s elite. The course was redesigned to ensure that everything went smoothly. “The current situation regarding the coronavirus prompted us to take some drastic measures.”
The place of departure and arrival will move from the Zeelaan in Koksijde-Bad to the military domain of Koksijde. This is to make the start and finish zone optimally public-free.
In addition, the passage disappears with the climb of the Hoge Blekker. From the military domain it goes inland on public roads. Of the new 14-kilometer route, 10 kilometers will still be on public roads.
“Of course the title battle should have been a tourist calling card for Koksijde, but the current situation regarding the coronavirus prompted us to take some drastic measures,” explained Jan Deramoudt of the organizing committee.
Mouth mask duty along the entire course
The Belgian championship was first scheduled for Thursday, June 18, but the corona virus threw a spanner in the works. The title fight has been moved to Thursday, August 20 and will take place under strict measures.
“We want as few people as possible to come along the course. A mouth mask is mandatory throughout the course. It is a pity for the riders who already explored the old route, but it was this intervention or no BK. Then the choice is quick made.”
