Bezeq’s board of directors approved the appointment of Gil Sharon as chairman

Bezeq’s board of directors this evening (Sunday) approved the appointment of Gil Sharon as the company’s chairman in place of Shlomo Rodev, as revealed in Calcalist last week.

The report states that “Today, the company’s board of directors decided to approve the appointment of Gil Sharon as director and chairman of the company’s board of directors, starting from the date when Gil Sharon will announce, during August 2020, his inauguration. The terms of the priesthood for Gil Sharon will be brought to the approval of the general meeting as required by law, after discussion and approval by the Remuneration Committee and the Board of Directors on the subject. ”

In fact, Sharon will serve as interim chairman because his appointment requires the approval of the general meeting, which will be convened only after the next two annual reports. Sharon currently serves as the CEO of the cellular company Golan Telecom, whose sale to Cellcom is awaiting the final approval of the Minister of Communications, Yoaz Handel. In the past, he served for about a decade as the CEO of Pelephone, a subsidiary of Bezeq.

Tomer Raved, CEO of Beecom, which controls Bezeq, said: “We are very happy that Gil has joined the group. Gil brings with him decades of experience in the Israeli communications market, an experience that will bring great value to the country, consumers, businesses and the entire Bezeq Group. We have full confidence in Gil’s ability to lead the Bezeq Group in collaboration with Dudu Mizrahi and Ran Guron towards this period of revolution in the communications and digital infrastructure in the State of Israel. ”
