Tal Ben Haim (Betar Jerusalem)
As first reported in ONE, veteran stopper Tal Ben Haim has signed for another year at Betar Jerusalem and will continue to play in the Premier League in the 2020/2021 season, at the age of 38. In addition, striker Glaofilo Plater Hasselbaink has officially signed a three-year contract with the team.
The experienced defensive player, who will celebrate his 39th birthday next season, arrived at the club from the capital in the summer of 2018 and will in fact continue for a third season in Roni Levy’s team. Ben Haim recorded 17 appearances in all competitions last season (16 in the league and another in the State Cup).
Ben Haim began his career as a graduate player of course at Maccabi Tel Aviv, somewhere in 1998. He continued his extensive European career and played for Bolton, Chelsea, Manchester City and Portsmouth, among others, before returning to Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2015, and as mentioned last season, he moved to another team in Israel for the first time.
Haselbaink, Nigel’s cousin who left Hapoel BS this season, received the number 29 and joined his new teammates in training ahead of the season opener. The two join Oren Bitton, who has already signed with the club.
