In recent years, he fell asleep due to background illnesses, and on Saturday he suddenly collapsed and died at his home on Eliezerov Street in the Gush 80 neighborhood of Jerusalem.
The late deceased was born in Jerusalem, on the 26th of Nisan, to his father, the late Rabbi Avraham Kaufman.
Known as a special man who all his life dealt with grace, he was a unique figure who served as the Gabay of the Sanz Chekwa Synagogue on Yona Street in Jerusalem and was devoted to the synagogue with all his heart.
He also served for thirty years as a spiritual overseer at the Toldot Aharon Yeshiva and was also privileged to serve as the owner of the “Yehoshua plot” from Biala ztl.
During his lifetime, he married his late son Rabbi Alter Moshe Yaakov Kaufman, one of the followers of Dushinsky in Beit Shemesh, who died in the month of Kislev in 1947 after falling from a ladder.
His brother, Rabbi Yehoshua Simcha Kaufman, who passed away at the beginning of the month of Nisan 5769, was the devoted driver of the elder of the Rosh Yeshivot, Gramad Soloveitchik, another brother. The late Rabbi Aharon Zvi Gershon Kaufman, who was one of the first ultra-Orthodox tour guides in Jerusalem, passed away last Tevet and is 71 years old at the time of his death.
The funeral procession tonight (Holy Saturday evening, Parshas Va’atchanan – Nechmo) at 11:30 PM from the Shamgar Funeral Home in Jerusalem to Mount of Beatitudes, where Whitman is buried.
