Thursday was the deadline for registering teams for the 21/2020 basketball season and this morning (Sunday) the union announced that no less than 2,360 teams have registered for the new season – after 2,200 teams finished last season.
The union is satisfied that despite the corona crisis, there has been an increase in the number of teams and of course hence the number of players. “The basketball association has decided to come to the associations and allows them a significant discount on registration. In addition, a foundation was established, in collaboration with the “Values in Sports” organization, which aims to help the less able so that no child will stop playing due to the financial situation of his parents. The Basketball Association continues to lead Israeli sports in its volume of activity, last season there were no less than 240 leagues all over the country and at all ages and this year this number will increase, so that in a normal week of activity there will be more than 1,000 games. The game season is scheduled to open in the third week of October, after the Tishrei holidays, “the press release said.
The Basketball Association also stated: “We are proud to continue to grow and be the leading association in the country. The union has continued to move towards teams affected by the corona crisis with the goal that any boy or girl who wants to play basketball no matter where they live and what their financial situation is, will be able to do so. We see back to normal activity of great importance to the body and mind. These days, sports are the most important of all and we will continue to do everything we can to help anyone who needs help, along with the continued development of the various Israeli teams. “
