Barendrecht has started the preparation for the new football season in the Third Division with a draw. Against Sportclub Feyenoord, the amateur branch of the Rotterdam pros who play in the big league, it became 2-2 on Saturday at De Bongerd. The team of coach Richard Elzinga led 2-1 for a long time, but due to an unnecessarily caused penalty, it was still the same.

For almost five months, Barendrecht was not on the field for an official game. The last competitive meeting was on March 7 when ODIN ’59 at De Bongerd was too strong 2-0. The corona crisis then crossed the rest of the league.

Jack van den Berg left Barendrecht and Richard Elzinga came as new trainer. The selection underwent several changes and with BEST Trucks / DAF the club finally angled into a main sponsor. The name of the Barendrecht car company was also prominent on the shirts of the red / whites on Saturday.

Barendrecht was not quite complete on Saturday. Defender Stanley Husen was still on vacation, goalkeeper Jeffrey Verkerk and youth players Anass Masrhalmi and Sjacco Meijer were not yet present. However, there was the debut of Qrushinco Rosina, the attacker from Poortugaal started as left winger.

Barendrecht got off to a ‘sold out’ Bongerd – a maximum of 250 spectators were allowed in because of corona. Captain Max van Dijk already headed a corner from Danny Monster after four minutes against the ropes (1-0). However, it was soon 1-1 again when Rowendley Marijn – who also walked around De Bongerd for another year – aimed from a distance and thereby surprised goalkeeper Nick van der Ploeg.

Barendrecht was the parent team and took the lead again. A cross by Luivienno Statia from the left was taken in full at once by Rosina: the ball sailed hard and high behind goalkeeper Jordie van Leeuwen (2-1). On the other side, Junior Obiku came across Van der Ploeg and just before half-time Van Leeuwen saved on a bet by Danny Monster.

Wissels
After the interruption traditionally many switches. The viewers saw the debut of attacker Bart Deprez, from Smitshoek and the youth players Wouter Rieken and Ugur Altintas. There was also the return of Daniël Esajas who returned after a long injury injury; the attacker tore off his cruciate ligament for two seasons in preparation, leaving him aside for two years.

Many opportunities were no longer available in the lesser qualitative second company. Barendrecht seemed on the way to a victory, but gave it away clumsily. Goalkeeper Nick van der Ploeg knocked down a Feyenoorder within the penalty area, after which Quincy Oosterom was allowed to score the 2-2 from eleven meters. The final chord belonged to Ramy Salem who did not succeed with a volley, so it remained 2-2.

Barendrecht – SC Feyenoord 2-2 (2-1)
4. 1-0 Van Dijk, 9. 1-1 Martijn, 23. 2-1 Rosina, 78. 2-2 Oosterom (penalty).
