Tomorrow (Friday) evening, Barcelona will reach the climax of its season: the Champions League quarter-final, where it will meet Bayern Munich – apparently, the best team in Europe at the moment. But with all the respect and concentration of the players towards the challenging task, Barça as always are already looking forward – to the next season. Kika Stein’s status is in doubt, he probably will not continue, and this morning (Thursday) an interesting name was revealed in the French media that he was offered to replace him on the lines at Camp Nou: none other than Arsene Wenger.

According to the report, Francesi Barcelona offered Wenger the job, but he refused – because he did not know how central his role would be in building the team and the club. Wenger, at least according to the text, wants to return to the lines – . He was even quoted as saying “I do not deserve to do parts of things if the right opportunity comes, I will appear for her. But if not, I do not”. According to the report, the super agent Georges Mendes also offered the job to the Frenchman Laurent Blanc, and he too has meanwhile rejected the offer.

Wenger, now 70, is one of the most respected managers in European and world football. He spent 22 years on the lines of Arsenal, with whom he gained greatness, after starting his career in teams like Nancy, Monaco and Japanese Nagoya Grampus. Wenger has won three championships with Arsenal (one of which is “The House is defeated” – the season in which the Gunners were not defeated even once, in the 2003/04 season), seven English trophies and seven more wins in the Community Shield. Once he reached the Champions League final, then he lost to .. Barcelona. At least for now, he will not try to close the circle – but in Wenger’s case, the door cannot be closed completely.
