Police have now arrested a 25-year-old Galilee resident on suspicion of attempting to rape an elderly woman in her apartment in Haifa
Police have now arrested a resident of one of the villages in the Galilee, as part of a complex investigation opened this week at the Haifa station, upon receiving a report at Hotline 100 regarding suspicion of attempted rape and sodomy on an elderly city resident, by an anonymous man who escaped from the balcony.
Investigators from the Haifa station in cooperation with the district forensic unit conducted an intensive investigation, which so far included collecting forensic findings in the apartment where the victim lives, along with conducting scans, collecting evidence, seizing security cameras and using various technological means, exposing the suspect.
Police detectives have now arrested a 25-year-old resident of the village of Ilut on suspicion of breaking into the elderly woman’s home in her 80s while she was sleeping and trying to rape her and commit an act of sodomy on her, while assaulting her.
In accordance with the findings collected so far and the needs of the investigation, the police intend to bring the suspect to a hearing tomorrow in the Haifa Magistrate’s Court with a request to extend his detention.
