In Limburg, 28 people were tested positive for the corona virus in the past week. In addition, one hospital admission has been added in the province.
In total, since the pandemic reached the Netherlands, at least 4,942 provincial members have had the virus among its members. Most infections were added in Roermond. Seven people from that municipality were tested positive. In addition, contamination has also been registered in the municipalities of Eijsden-Margraten, Heerlen, Maastricht, Meerssen, Peel and Maas, Sittard-Geleen, Venlo, Venray and Voerendaal.
As of last week, no more persons have died in our province from the coronavirus. Just like last week, a correction was made. Last week, the death toll from the coronavirus was 717. Now it is at 754. The total number of hospital admissions is at 1563. That is 35 more than last week. A hospital admission was added last week. That person comes from the municipality of Maastricht. The remaining difference has been corrected.
On Monday it became clear that less was tested for the corona virus in Limburg. In the period between Monday, July 27 and Sunday, August 2, 3854 Limburgers had themselves tested in one of the test streets of the GGD. That was 30 percent less than the week before. In Urmond, 794 fewer people went to the test street. In Venlo, this was 804 fewer people compared to the previous week. The number of administered corona tests also decreased nationally. There, a decrease of 9 percent was observed.
In recent weeks, various so-called corona clusters have emerged in the Netherlands. These are places where many corona infections are detected in a short time. Based on the latest figures, this does not seem to be the case in Limburg. There is also no Limburg municipality in the top ten municipalities that on average have the most infections per day.
