Trump discusses with Putin nuclear disarmament, “Corona” – Politics – News

The White House announced that President Donald Trump held phone conversations with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, yesterday, in particular, on the difficulties facing negotiations to denuclearise and ways to combat the pandemic “Covid-19”. In a brief statement, the US presidency said that the two presidents discussed “the ongoing efforts to eliminate the (Covid-19) pandemic while continuing to reopen the economies.” The statement added that Trump reiterated his “hope to avoid a costly arms race between China, Russia and the United States.” Trump also called for progress in the Vienna negotiations as Washington and Moscow have been trying since the end of June to reach an alternative agreement to the new New START Treaty, which expires in February 2021 and sets a cap on the nuclear heads of the United States and Russia. Washington has repeatedly called on Beijing to join the Vienna negotiations, justifying its request that Chinese nuclear capabilities are growing, but China has rejected this invitation.
