A man died in Australia from a shark attack, he was spearfishing off the east coast.
The victim, 36 years old, was bitten in the leg in front of Fraser Island, a popular tourist resort about 400 kilometers from Brisbane.
A nurse and a doctor tried to rescue him before the ambulance arrived, but there was nothing to do, the man died from the serious injuries sustained.
This is the fourth deadly shark attack recorded in 2020.
“Fraser Island is a key breeding place for migratory fish, which attract sharks. So it’s no surprise that someone has been attacked, it is more surprising that someone dives there,” explains expert Daryl McPhee, associate professor of environmental sciences at Bond University.
A month ago a 60-year-old surfer died after being torn to pieces by a three-meter shark south of Brisbane, Australia is one of the countries with the highest incidence of shark attacks in the world. But deaths remain fairly rare.
