A small plane crashed on Saturday afternoon in an apartment complex in the German city of Wesel in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The police reportedly reported three deaths, the German media reports.
Two passengers of the plane did not survive the crash. The third victim is said to have been a resident of the apartment complex. Her two-year-old child was slightly injured.
The plane crashed into the housing complex, which then caught fire. The emergency services turned out en masse. A parachute was found near the location, authorities believe it belonged to the pilot of the aircraft.
Eyewitnesses report to the Rheinische Post that a balloon in the air had collided with the small plane. The police were not yet able to confirm this news.
Wesel is located about 40 kilometers from the Dutch border.
