Just when he thought he could breathe a sigh of relief, Spain returns to lower the shutters, after the infection has risen. After the confinement of 200,000 inhabitants of Catalonia announced on Saturday, Galicia starts today lockdown for 70 thousand people. The north-western region is known above all for the sanctuary of the regional capital, Santiago de Compostela, famous pilgrimage destination. At the moment there are in Galicia 258 cases, 117 of which in Lugo.

After the discovery of an outbreak with over 100 cases, the Generalitat decreed the confinement of La Marina residents. The news was spread by El Pais, citing the minister of the Health Jesùs Vàsquez. The inhabitants of the province of Lugotherefore, they will not be able to leave the area from midnight on Sunday to next Friday, or two days before the regional elections: only people who have to travel for proven needs will be able to leave the location. Regional Health Minister Jesus Vazquez Almuina explained that new outbreaks are related to the activities of some bars in the area.

A series of closings that arrive at the height of the tourist season, essential for the Iberian economy but started amid a thousand difficulties. Only the 4th July the country – eighth in the world by number of Covid’s victims – had reopened its borders to the arrivals of 12 new countries, following the EU’s recommendations but excluding Morocco, Algeria and China. Opening between the perplexities, because the day before he had recorded 17 coronavirus deaths in one day, the highest number of victims since June 19. Madrid had already reopened on June 21 to EU, British and Schengen citizens. The Ministry of Health stressed that reinforcements have been deployed at the airports for “checking travelers on arrival” with thermometers and data collection to be able to contact them
