Ognjen Vranjes was already let to AEK Athens last season, but the Greek top club decided not to disclose the purchase option. The defender seemed to have a new chance in Brussels, but the call came anyway.
It seems certain that the transfer will be made, but negotiations are still ongoing. AEK wants to take over Vranjes – it must be able to pay his high wages – for free, but Anderlecht do not want to know about that.
The Belgian record champion realizes that the three million they paid to AEK at the time is too high, but the Purple & White still want to catch something for the defender. Based on its market value, Anderlecht is thinking of an amount around one million euros.
In addition, purple-white is slightly firmer in the shoes. Vranjes would get his chance in the team of Frank Vercauteren and Vincent Kompany in the coming months. Although as a backup, this is played out around the negotiating table.
