Relatives of EU coronavirus victims: “Watch over investigations” – La Stampa

BERGAMO. They found themselves still in front of the Bergamo prosecutor. They are the relatives of the victims of the Coronavirus in Bergamo and Brescia, gathered in the Committee We will report Truth and Justice. How many people died in the two provinces is officially unknown. In the Bergamo RSA alone, 32.7% of elderly patients died in the first 4 months of the year. In Brescia there would be at least 1600 victims in the RSA. For this reason, the Committee sent a letter today to the President of the European Commission Ursula Von der Leyen and to the President of the European Court for Human Rights Robert Ragnar Spanò asking to supervise on investigations underway in Lombardy because there could be details of the crime of crimes against humanity in violation of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. For some time, the Bergamo prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into the failure of the red zone in Valseriana, in particular in Alzano Lombardo and Nembro, the two most affected countries.

The Committee of the families of the victims wrote in the letter to the Community authorities: “If the prosecutors should establish that the missing red areas belong to the sphere of politics rather than to criminal law, it will be clear how the decision not to contain the spread of the virus, in agreement with the opinions of the scientific community, was intentional: a deliberate decision to sacrifice human lives, tens of thousands of lives, to avoid the political repercussions deriving from the safety of three economically productive cities in Northern Italy “.

The letter also refers to the regional provisions, now under consideration by the prosecutor’s office, which would have triggered the massacre: “A regional directive approved on March 8 that suggested hospitals to transfer patients with low-risk coronavirus to nursing homes for free some beds and cope with the constant demand throughout the emergency. This directive was approved in total contradiction with the scientific data available to public authorities, which clearly showed how the virus was proving lethal, especially for the oldest and most vulnerable members of our society “. The letter also refers to the rejection of responsibility between the Region and the national government on the decision to close the red areas of Bergamo.
