The German police have started a search in Hanover, Germany, for the possible remains of the disappeared British toddler Madeleine McCann. The police are using an excavator in a garden of a kindergarten in the city, the prosecutors report.
McCann has been missing since 2007. In early June, a German came into the picture as a possible perpetrator of the missing person, he was already detained for another crime and has been detained. The then 3-year-old toddler was on holiday with her parents in the Portuguese Praia da Luz in 2007, where she disappeared without a trace from the house where she stayed with her parents.
Earlier this month, the body of McCann was also searched in Portugal. The German police assume that she is no longer alive.
