Napoli strengthened on Friday with Victor Osimhen. The Italian club takes over the 21-year-old Nigerian attacker for tens of millions of euros from Lille OSC.
Napoli and Lille do not make any statements about the amount of the transfer fee, but according to various media, Napoli pays no less than 60 million euros and can increase that by bonuses to a maximum of 80 million euros.
Osimhen would thus repay Hirving Lozano as Napoli’s record purchase. The Mexican attacker reportedly transferred from PSV to PSV last summer, but he has not yet been able to live up to expectations.
The physically strong Osimhen only played one season for Lille, which took him over from Charleroi for 14 million euros a year ago. He scored for Lille eighteen times in 38 official games.
Osimhen ended up at VfL Wolfsburg in 2017 through the Ultimate Strikers Academy in his native country. He was leased a year later to Charleroi, which last year enlisted him for 3.5 million euros, but was immediately resold to Lille.
Napoli was looking for a new striker because Arkadiusz Milik seems to be leaving Napoli this summer. The former Ajax player refuses to extend his one-year continuing contract for the time being and would be in the interest of Juventus.
