Modena, Chief Prosecutor Paolo Giovagnoli has died

MODENA – Paolo Giovagnoli, chief prosecutor of Modena, died at the age of 69. Last Saturday he had been struck by an illness in the province of Cuneo, where he was on vacation for a few days. Rescued since 118, he had been hospitalized in intensive care in the Savigliano hospital, where he died after a week. Giovagnoli lived on his feet over 40 years of career in the judiciary. He took office as head of the prosecutor’s office in Modena on May 8, 2019. Previously he also held the position of deputy attorney general at the Bologna court of appeal, and had been chief prosecutor in Rimini, where his best-known investigation is that relative to the mysterious death of Marco Pantani.When he settled in Modena he said “I have been a prosecutor for 40 years.
