Juventus coach Sarri: ‘Most difficult season in Italian football history’ | NOW

Maurizio Sarri is not surprised that Juventus has struggled to win matches in recent weeks. The coach of the Serie A leader hopes to become champion again on Sunday against Sampdoria.

“This is the most difficult season in the history of Italian football. Given the great difficulties, I think the team has done well,” Sarri refers to the interruption of the season due to the corona crisis. “We have a lot of injuries, but that is typical for a team that plays so many games. That is nothing to do dramatically.”

Juventus has had the ninth league title in sight for a few weeks, but ‘The Old Lady’ has only won once in the last five games, so the championship is not a fact this season. On Thursday, Juventus got the title at Udinese, but the team lost 2-1.

“We lost our organization in Udine, but the positive thing is that this happened because we tried too hard to win. I prefer that as a reason for defeat than being too passive, as has happened a number of times,” Sarri continues at his press conference on Saturday.

“I love this hunger to win, although the execution was not perfect. We can and should be more solid. We’ve had some blackouts lately, but that wasn’t about Udinese with laziness. We tried just too loud, “said Sarri.

Juventus will have another chance to grab the title on Sunday. The Turin club, which is four points ahead of the current number two Internazionale, will be visited by Sampdoria, which is in fourteenth place, at 9.45 pm.
