In addition, the chairman of the Histadrut informed Hermoni and the representatives of the struggle that in the coming days the Histadrut will give precedents to the strikers money from its strike fund. Every worker who strikes in Israel will receive a check for NIS 1,000.
According to the Histadrut announcement, “this is the first time that the Histadrut strike fund will be operated on such a large scale and for such a large number of workers.” The announcement also stated that Bar-David had declared that if no solution was found to the crisis, “more jobs from the public sector would join the strike as a sign of solidarity.”
The chairman of the social workers’ union, Inbal Hermoni: “The involvement and backing of the chairman of the Histadrut in this struggle is important and gives us the impetus to continue the struggle until our demands are achieved.”
Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Itzik Shmuli: “I welcome the announcement by the chairman of the Histadrut, which comes against the background of unnecessary disregard and dragging of feet in the face of the just demands of the social workers. “And women we have to get out of the cycle of violence – and there is no one to do it. The social cost is enormous and every moment can cost human lives. We are working hard to reach agreements that must be reached today.”
