Former minister and former mayor of Bastogne, Guy Lutgen, died at the age of 84. Several French-speaking media report this on Sunday. The news was also confirmed by a CDH spokesperson.

Guy Lutgen was elected to the city council in Bastogne, province of Luxembourg in 1964. He held the position of provincial councilor for many years and also became mayor of the city. He was also a senator and Walloon minister of Agriculture and Environment. He was considered ‘incontournable’ in Wallonia and was a minister for more than eleven years. He was also one of the best known faces of the French-speaking Christian Democrats.

Guy Lutgen is the father of Benoît Lutgen, current mayor of Bastogne and chairman of the CDH between 2011 and 2019.
