In the ‘War Table’ live stream of Marvel’s Avengers publisher Square Enix and developers Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal explained the beta release expected in August, announced Hawkeye as a playable character upon release, and announced a Fortnite collaboration.
The beta includes several single player missions and a selection of additional missions that can be played solo with your AI Avengers team or up to four players co-op. In one mission, players take the role of young Super Hero Kamala Khan and team up with Hulk while infiltrating an AIM base in the forests of the American Pacific Northwest. Later, they take the Quinjet to a remote war zone in the frozen Russian tundra to reveal SHIELD secrets hidden in a deep underground bunker.
The beta program of Marvel’s Avengers starts August 7 exclusively for PlayStation 4 owners who have pre-ordered the game and will be available until August 9. The beta will be available to all PlayStation 4 owners on August 14 and will run until August 16. For those who Marvel’s Avengers on Xbox One and PC, the beta begins on August 14 and runs through August 16. On August 21, the beta program will be open to all PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC players and will run until August 23.
Hawkeye will be available for free after release. In an original storyline inspired by some of the most famous Hawkeye moments in the comics, use Clint’s iconic high-tech bow and trick arrows in missions, alone or with friends online. Hawkeye’s story continues after the story of the base game. all new missions are accessible with all playable heroes. More information on this and additional post-release content, including the new villain and other content debuting with the Hawkeye story, will be available soon.
During the stream, it was also revealed that PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players linking their Square Enix Members and Epic Games accounts and completing the Beta’s three HARM room challenges complete the ‘Hulk Smashers Pickaxe’ in ‘Hulkbuster’ earn style in Fortnite.
Marvel’s Avengers releases September 4 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Free upgrades are coming for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
