F1, GP Styria: bad weather, third free session canceled. Qualifications are also at risk

SPIELBERG (Austria) – Rain protagonist on the Spielberg circuit where the Styrian GP is held, the second race of the Formula One world championship. A violent downpour led first to the postponement and then to the cancellation of the third free practice session, scheduled for 12 o’clock.

Rain is a problem for the Rossa

It is not good news for Ferrari, because the weather forecasts give further intensification of the rain, so as to endanger the performance of the qualifying scheduled at 15 o’clock. If the latter, in fact, were not to be held today, or possibly tomorrow morning, it would take the times of Friday to establish the starting grid. At that point Max Verstappen would start in pole position flanked by Valtteri Bottas, winner of the Grand Prix of seven days ago always played here in Austria, with Hamilton in the third row and the Ferraris back: ninth Leclerc, even 16th Sebastian Vettel. The F3 race was also suspended after 15 laps of the 24 scheduled, and the victory assigned to the 17 year old Danish driver Frederik Vesti, who at the time of suspension was in command with his Prema.
