KRC Genk won a friendly match against AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands on Saturday afternoon with the smallest difference (0-1). Cyriel Dessers gave the Limburgers the profit on penalty.

Dessers scored the only goal of the game in minute 19. AZ came on afterwards, but Genk held up thanks to a fantastic goalkeeper Danny Vukovic.

The 25-year-old Dessers came over from Heracles Almelo this summer, with which he became top scorer in the Dutch Eredivisie with fifteen goals shared last season. The attacker signed a four-season contract with Racing.

Nice inflicts Standard second defeat, Avenatti scores again

In an empty Sclessin, Standard lost 1-2 against OGC Nice. Avenatti gave the Rouches the lead. Due to goals from Dolberg and Kamara, the French went home with the victory.

Standard started against Nice with the eleven names that will probably start in the league opener against Cercle Brugge on Saturday, August 8. So without the then suspended Zinho Vanheusden, but with Mergim Vojvoda in the center of the defense. In the striker, Felipe Avenatti once again preferred Obbi Oulare. Mehdi Carcela also started on the bench.

It was Avenatti who opened the score. The Uruguayan was played in depth by Collins Fai, got too much space from Dante (ex-Standard and -Bayern) and slid the ball with his junior judge. For Avenatti already his fifth goal in this preparation.

It was far from 1-0, because only four minutes later, Kasper Dolberg scored the equalizer. The Dane was allowed to moor from eleven yards after a foul by Eden Shamir and did not fail.

Immediately after the break Hassane Kamara gave the French visitors the lead. After a long drawn-out attack, the left wing defender knocked Standard goalkeeper Arnaud Bodart with a crossed shot.

Standard showed nice play at times, but was unable to create much. In the final quarter, Montanier changed his entire team with the exception of Bodart, which did not benefit the game. Just before the last whistle, Boljevic did not manage to get the ball from one meter into the goal. And so the people of Liège, after OHL, suffered their second defeat of this preparation. Next week, a friendly game against Reims is planned. bfa)

Cercle loses signed off from new professional club

Last Wednesday, Cercle escaped at the last minute from an embarrassment against Winkel from the first national. On Saturday, that did not work against the brand new professional club Deinze. Cercle lost 4-0 in Ruddervoorde. The owners in Monaco are now allowed to wake up and take action. Uncertainty about corona and the league format or not, the promised reinforcement must be urgently needed.

Congolese striker Guy Mbenza scored in fifteen minutes, but the goal was disallowed for offside. De Looze’s goal a few minutes later did count (1-0). Dansoko later punished fumbling in the green-black defense (2-0). Things got worse shortly after half-time, when Taravel’s neo-professional club Deinze’s hand game resulted in a penalty, converted by Mertens. Just before the many changes at Cercle, the Schils who came in at Deinze made it 4-0. So work on the shop for Cercle and especially in Monaco, where people now have to make decisions.

It remains unclear which direction Cercle wants to go this season. Paul Mitchell, the new TD of Monaco and Cercle, wants to treat both clubs equally. The goal is to finish as high as possible in your own league. For Monaco, that means getting Champions League, as far as Cercle is concerned, Mitchell even secretly thinks of Europa League. Then a substantial quality injection will have to be made in the coming weeks. Thomas Didillon, for example, is high on the lists but, just like the files of Hauge, Kanouté and a few others, that of the French goalkeeper of Anderlecht will remain on the table for the time being.

Cercle Bruges: Warleson, Decostere, Ueda, Taravel (65’ Raux-Yao), Velkovski (65’ Corryn), Decostere (78’ Cassaert), Omolo (65’ Deuro), Vanhoutte (77’ Koshi), Hoggas (77’ Dekuyper), Gory, Mbenza, Hotic

Deinze: Dutoit, De Smul (46 ‘Libbrecht), Boone, De Looze, Le Postollec (46’ De Schutter), Staelens (34 ‘Schils), Lecomte, Challouk, Vanwalle, Dansoko (46’ Mertens)

Goals: 18 ‘De Looze 1-0, 32’ Dansoko 2-0, 51 ‘Mertens (str.) 3-0, 63’ Schilz 4-O

STVV too strong for Zulte Waregem

Zulte Waregem was again unable to win. It lost on Saturday at home to STVV. Essevee, however, shot best from the starting blocks, which resulted in an early goal from Bruno. Moments later, Govea got the chance to double the lead, but it did not get past 17-year-old Vanmarsenille. And Essevee would complain, because moments later Lee was able to score the equalizer from the spot. Little remained of the good start of Essevee, because STVV now took over command. The canaries created some good opportunities, but failed to score.

After the break it suddenly went fast for STVV. First, Balongo was able to score after he easily beat Pletinckx and less than five minutes later the Limburgers expanded their lead after Lathouwers headed a free kick by Van Dessel against the ropes. After 65 minutes, Zulte Waregem was able to soften: Srarfi kicked a measured cross from Opare into the goal. Zulte Waregem now took over command again, but was unable to force anything. It is suffering its second defeat this week.

Zulte Waregem: Bansen, Deschacht (46 ‘De Bock), Opare, Marcq (46’ Seck), Sissako (77 ‘Dompé), Humphreys, Pletinckx, Govea (85’ Van Hecke), Bruno, Vossen (46 ‘Berahino), Srarfi (77 Soisalo)

KV Mechelen cannot beat OHL either

Youthful KV Mechelen and Seraing do not score

Seraing and a young KV Mechelen balanced each other in a practice match on Saturday morning. The match on Liège soil ended 0-0.

Mechelen has a busy Saturday ahead, because Malinwa will play a second exhibition game later in the day (7pm). Opponent then is Oud-Heverlee Leuven, which is preparing for the return match of the promotion final in the Proximus League on August 2 against Beerschot.

That is why KVM started in Seraing, which will play in the Proximus League next season, with a young team. The youthful people of Mechelen did not find a hole in the defense of the second division in the first period. There were no goals after the coffee.
