Disaster in Dimona: A three-year-old boy was in the vehicle tonight (Monday) in a critical condition, after he was apparently forgotten in the vehicle. The medical teams of the Rescue Union were called to the scene and evacuated him while performing resuscitation operations to Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva – where he was pronounced dead a few hours later.
Zion Rosilio, a paramedic from the Rescue Union, said: “When we arrived at the scene, we encountered a child who was taken to his home after the neighbors said he had been in the vehicle for a long time.
At the same time, Yonatan Ifergan, a senior paramedic at MDA, said that the boy suffered from a heat stroke. “I arrived at the scene and they signaled for me to enter a house. “I saw one of the neighbors perform basic resuscitation operations with MDA’s 101 telephone instruction. I started advanced resuscitation operations and connected the defibrillator,” he said. “The intensive care team that arrived at the scene continued with advanced resuscitation operations that included resuscitation, massages and medication and cooling with towels and water and evacuated the child to the hospital while continuing resuscitation operations when his condition was critical.”
Police have opened an investigation on suspicion of negligence, and are investigating when the family members arrived at their home with the vehicle and when the toddler was located in the vehicle. Investigators arrived at the family’s apartment and collected testimonies from family members, in parallel with the staff who came to the hospital to follow the toddler.
