Decision on passenger testing expected Friday

The cabinet is expected to announce on Friday whether travelers who return from abroad without corona complaints will also be tested for the virus. Earlier this would be announced Thursday, but according to a spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, more time is needed.

Travelers returning from a country where the code is orange are urgently advised to quarantine for a fortnight. The government has asked the Outbreak Management Team (OMT) for advice on testing all travelers who come from these risk areas. If the OMT recommends testing these travelers, it may no longer be necessary to quarantine them for two weeks if they have been tested negative.

People can infect others without even knowing they are sick. In February, returning winter sports enthusiasts took the virus to the Netherlands. There are fears that returning holidaymakers will cause a second wave of the epidemic this summer.
