A defender representing the Czech Republic on the youth national teams learned of his illness in May.
The world hockey faced grief news on Friday. Czech defender promise Ondrej Buchtela has died of a rare cancer at the age of 20.
For example, a Swede Aftonbladet saysthat Buchtela learned of his illness on May 14th. At that time, the cancer had already spread from his heart to his lungs.
The official Twitter account of the Czech hockey national team confirmed the grief news.
– Rest in peace, Ondrej. We will never forget you. Deep condolences to the family and all those close to him, the Czech national team tweeted.
Buchtela wrote about his illness on his own Instagram account in early June.
– Doctors found a malignant tumor in my heart. It’s not supposed to get cancer at age 20, but once that happens, I can’t help but fight, the young man wrote.
Last season Buchtela played the second highest league in the Czech Republic in HC Benátky nad Jizerou. He also had time to play for his career in the Czech youth national teams.
Aftonbladet says a fundraiser had also been set up for Buchtela’s treatments. It was attended by several country puck legends, such as Jaromir Jagr mixed Dominik Hasek.
However, no cure was found for the rare cancer. Buchtela spent his last days at home with his family and girlfriend Aninkan the bosom.
