first blockades at the border
Italian, after the entry into force of the new provisions
on entry permits into the country taken on 1 July and which, in addition to allowing arrivals from all EU states
and the area Schengen
, has opened borders to 15 countries, but with the obligation to quarantine
for 14 days. A group of American tourists, departed from Colorado
with a private jet
, has in fact been denied entry into the country during the ritual checks at Elmas airport in Cagliari
, since the USA
they are not on the list of states to which Italy has decided to open its doors.
A dozen people were on board the vehicle. For five of them in possession of an American passport, according to local newspapers, the repatriation, while the others, some Sardinians, will be able to enter the country but will have to remain in quarantine for 14 days before being able to move freely. The United States is not, in fact, part of the list of non-EU countries that are allowed to enter Italy, that is algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zeland, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, tunisia, Uruguay and China.
The governor also intervened on the matter Christian Solinas: “The Sardinia Region has no responsibility for what has happened. Immediately, with the collaboration of the airport management company, we went to work – initiating pressing discussions with the government, the Ministry and the Prefect – to find a solution that would allow American passengers to stay in Sardinia, even undergoing quarantine, ”said the Sardinian president. Then, with the summer season already started, he attacks the government’s choices: “The singular restrictive interpretation of the rules by the government, opposed to our reasonableness to guarantee also in this case the health security, has inflicted serious damage to the international tourist credibility of our island – Solinas concludes – and of our sense of hospitality. We hope that in the next few hours there will be a further effort to allow the resolution of this story “.
