Christiane Raponda sets up her government, with eleven women

                The new Prime Minister, Rose Christiane Ossouka Raponda, appointed on Thursday did not wait long to form her government.  The first woman to hold this position, she gave pride of place to women in her team, whose main mission will be to revive the economy of the country very weakened by the coronavirus pandemic.

It is one of the most feminine governments in Gabon’s history. Out of a total of 33 ministers, including the head of government, there are 11 women and 22 men. The first and number 2 of the team are women.

The government remains controlled by the ruling party and its allies. Relatives of the Head of State retain key positions. Lambert Noël Matha remains at the Ministry of the Interior. Oil is still in the hands of Vincent de Paul Massassa. Michael Moussa Adamo, Ambassador of Gabon to the United States is called to the Ministry of Defense. It is among the main entrants. Pacôme Moubelet Boubeya, in touch for almost two years, returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he replaced Alain Claude Bilie By Nze, another close friend of Ali Bongo transferred to the Ministry of Energy.

Opposition figure, Jean de Dieu Moukagni Iwangou who was at the Ministry of Higher Education is dismissed. Just like Max Limoukou who cedes the Ministry of Health to Guy Patrick Obiang Ndong very noticed at the height of the coronavirus pandemic.
